About Assamese Newspapers:
Some say that the first Assamese newspaper to be ever published was Amnodaya, in 1846. It was started by Reverend Oliver.T.Cutter.
Others sat that it was "Arunodoi", started in January, 1846, with Dr. Nathan Brown as its first editor. Many other newspapers were published thereafter some of which survived, while the others stopped publication.
In post independence period many papers were started, some of which continue till today. The most influentil among these is Amor Asam.
