About Malayalam Newspapers
Keralamitram , started in 1881 the first Malaylam newspaper, follwed by the arrival of Kerala Patrika , a weekly founded in 1884.
Deepika, a daily Malayalam newspaper, is also among the oldest Malayam newspapers in India. It is also the first Malayalam daily.
Deepika has a history of over a century and was started in 1888 by a Roman Catholic priest , Nidhirikkal Manikkathanar. It was then published under the title Nazrani Deepika, in 1888.
The Malayala Manorama currently has the largest readership of over 9.9 million and a circulation base of around 2 million copies. It is also the most widely circulated among regional newspapers.
