    MEDICAL EDUCATION IN INDIA Entrance Examinations


    All professional courses are open for the right students. But the admission to such courses is open only through an Entrance Examination.

    In India a degree like MBBS comes as under graduate, and MD or MS falls under PG. PG diploma courses are also available in various branches in medical education.
    All higher education Degrees or Diplomas are valid internationally, especially in the field of medicine and engineering.


    To obtain a medical seat candidates should appear for various entrance tests in All India level. An eligible candidate in the State has to be pass 12th class or equivalent with 50% marks in aggregate and pass the All India Entrance Test such as AIIMS, AIPGE, AIPMT, AFMC CEE-Kerala. In the state level, one student has to get through Common Entrance Test of concerned states.

    Most of the Government Medical Colleges offer admissions only to Indian students on the basis of their performance in a competitive entrance test, However, few Government Medical Colleges have some quota for NRI/Foreign students.

    Medical and Dental council of India

    Any education in degree level or postgraduate or PG level in Medicine is either classified into medicine or Dental. Both are controlled and monitored by Medical council and Dental council, separately.

    A student has to keep a watch over the medical, dental and engineering entrance tests conducted in India by various States and Universities, if he or she has to get Admission to such courses. Usually the time for such tests will be around a couple of months earlier than the month in which the actual courses start in Medical Schools. The time a new academic year begin in India is usually the month of July.

    Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)/ Master of Dental Surgery ( MDS )

    This is a four year course with one year of compulsory rotary internship, thus making it a five year course. Candidates who have completed 10+2with Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for this course. There are several departments in the college, which are headed by the experts in the respective fields to provide excellent guidance. These are Periodontics, Pedodontics, ProsthodonticsAll dental education and colleges in India comes under the Dental Council of India (DCI) and all the universities in India are under the DCI gr
