The western system of medicine is also known as Allopathy. The term was coined by Hahnemann the founder of Homeopathy with its prime principle of 'like cures like'. Therefore to distinguish the western system of medicine from Homeopathy Hahnemann named it Allopathy, which literally means treatment of diseases by other drugs, that is drugs having effects opposed to the symptoms.
Career Prospects
Doctors can either open their own clinics or seek employment in government or private hospitals. They can opt to practise medicine as General Practitioners or study further and become specialists in one particular branch. Qualified and hardworking doctors are guaranteed handsome remuneration. In addition, they enjoy job satisfaction which comes with helping humanity overcome its physical and psychological ills.

This third year includes monthly clinical work in the wards and departments of the hospital. The course is 4 ½ years of classroom study followed by a year of rotating internship that is a total of 5 ½ years.
