What's that?
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery is a 4-year course followed by a year of residency. Admission to this course is via a competitive examination conducted along with the MBBS entrance examinations. The course offers subjects on all aspects of oral hygiene and care and provides a solid foundation for the prospective dentist.
Career Prospects
A Bachelor's degree in dentistry is the minimum qualification required for one to be certified as a practitioner. A qualified BDS can begin his career as an assistant or associate in a private clinic with a view to becoming a partner at a later date. Excellent opportunities for dentists are also available in the dental departments in hospitals as well as teaching in dental colleges.
