The MBBS student during his internship can decide his field of interest and opt to continue his education by enrolling for a post graduate course. Degrees such as MS - Master of Surgery, offer specialisation in areas like general surgery, cardio-thoracic surgery etc.
What's that?
The syllabus for the MS course varies depending on the area of specialisation chosen. Apart from theoretical and practical training at the postgraduate level students have to submit a thesis on a chosen topic. After specialisation there is a choice for the post graduate doctor to super specialise in such fields as neuro surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, etc.
